Tillamook
Bay is a great fishery nestled beneath the coastal
range on the north coast of Oregon. The bay is fed by five rivers: Wilson, Trask,
Kilchis, Miami, and Tillamook.
The
lower bay gets most of my attention early,
with trolled herring being the "go-to" bait.
As the fish
become more concentrated in the bay, the upper bay starts to kick out good numbers of fish with large
spinners being the main attraction.
As fish move into
the tidewater sections of the rivers, large
concentrations of fish can be caught with
giant gobs of eggs under a float.
When the rains come we fish in the confines of the Kilchis, Trask
and Wilson Rivers where Kwikfish and fresh eggs do the trick.
