Steelhead
Fishing:

 |
| Steelhead
may be the hardest fighting fish, pound for
pound, in the Northwest. Drag sizzling runs and
acrobatic antics make steelhead a blast to fish
for and personally one of my favorite species to
fish for in the world. We are very lucky to have
some of the best runs of Steelhead the world has
to offer here in the Northwest. The Deschutes,
Cowlitz, Wilson and Nestucca Rivers seasonally
offer incredible fly and terminal tackle
opportunities.

The
Cowlitz River is one of the most picturesque rivers in
the Northwest.
Nestled at the base of Mt. St. Helens, the river
boasts arguably the largest summer steelhead run on
the continent.
The fish run between 6 and 15 pounds and are, in my
opinion, the hardest fighting steelhead around.
Cowlitz River steelhead will go absolutely haywire:
jumping, running, around the boat, under the
boat... You name it and they’ll do it on this
river!
“Side drifting” corkies and yarn or small chunks
of eggs being the predominant method I use here.
