Salmon
Fishing:
Willamette and Columbia Rivers
Spring
Chinook
March - May
The
Willamette River flows into the Columbia River
in Portland, providing one of the best places in
the entire Northwest to fish for big, tasty
Chinook Salmon. We usually fish within 45
minutes of Portland, often within the city
limits.
I begin fishing the Columbia and lower Willamette in
March, where a combination of trolled herring and
anchored Kwikfish do the trick.
As the fish move on,
the area around Oregon City on the Willamette gets
most of my attention. A large waterfall that runs the
width of the river forces the fish to congregate in a
very small area. Back trolling and back bouncing nice
gobs of eggs works here. This is one one of my favorite
areas to fish. Reserve Now
